Graphic Design – an autism career question
I teach high school in a suburb of Atlanta. My subject is graphic design, and I have a student who possibly has the “gift” of art.
He learned Adobe Illustrator in about 10 minutes, while my other students are still learning how to use it! This student loves to draw and color using the computer, and he is very good at it.
His parents and I would really like to see if he could make this a possible career, and what direction we need to persuade him to go.

That is amazing. Adobe Illustrator is complicated and non-intuitive (to me).
Graphics design / website development is the most logical area to pursue. I am not sure how saturated the field is right now.
If he is high functioning, maybe you could find a group of professionals in Atlanta that meet periodically? In Austin we have a group of professionals in social networking and SEO that meet monthly or quarterly. They have professionals give presentations in related areas. It might spark his interest and help him figure out what field to pursue. Just a thought…

My suggestion is that you set up some informational meetings/job shadowing for this young man. He could learn a lot about potential careers by visiting an illustrator, graphic designer, art director (at an advertising agency).
